Ok...2 blogs in a day. Internet just ended. Thought my life was going to end. Joe's up there doing Premiere Pro demonstration...pretty cool program...for starters. I really need access to Eyeon Fusion or Maya.

Great. I just got news that I have to do an oral power point presentation on Neal Driscoll, specifically his work on lithospheric deformation.

Wow.

Amazing.

That's what I thought when I first walked into the uber cool UCSD campus and into the 4-month party life...(I wish).... mean science-math camp named COSMOS, which stands for California Mathematics and Science Camp.....? Ok. I know it really isn't an acronym for anything, it just sounds cool, but by first impressions, food looks great, dorms looks great (brand new), professors, who are all graduates and doctorates of MIT, Stanford, etc. seem to know their stuff really, really well.

Here are some pictures of the view I can see from the balcony of my dorm. (You can see the ocean clearly at day)

And here's the picture of the Cafe Ventanas, which is where we will be eating our meals. The good thing is that it's like 30 sec. walk from my dorm to the cafe.

But one thing that totally shocked me was how this program is actually an amalgamation, a mix of things I love - video editing, programming, dorm life, great food, learning - all canned into a fast paced 4 week program. There are 7 "clusters" in this program, and cluster 1, which I am in, is called "media computing." What we do, according to the orientation, is using the Python Programming language to manipulate and create images, audio, and video. Essentially, we are making programs that have very basic features of Adobe Photoshop, Premiere Pro, etc. In the end, we are expected to create a "final project", which is a video that chronicles our journeys at COSMOS.

Anyways. Don't know how to use linux which was what we learned the first instruction day.

Linux Commands

pwd - print work directory
ls -list - list directing contents
ls -la - list directing contents including hidden files
cd - change directory
chmod otr . - change . permissions
